Spring! Easter! and Birthdays...

Chocolate Pie Disaster...

Hazel was so cute about the chocolate pie we were going to have for Miriam's birthday.  She decided to carry it over to me, where I was changing Lucy's diaper, and let me know she thought is was ready to eat.  She said, "See Mommy, I hold it so carefully!"  Then all of a sudden chocolate pie everywhere, upside down on the carpet.  I quickly grabbed the pie, with my bare hands and flipped it back into the pie pan.  Only a little be of stain on the carpet to worry about.  Anxious to not make her feel too bad, I smiled and said, "It's OK Hazel, all cleaned up!"  She almost giggled as she said, "Yes, almost all cleaned up, except the pie on Lucy's head!"

I laughed as I saw a big splat of chocolate pie on the top of Lucy's head.  We laughed as we wiped it up.  We better not let her taste it, I said or she will try to eat the whole pie!

Croaked...

Jared was very tired the other day, and he said, "If I have to lift one more thing I am going to croak"
Hazel looked at me and said, "What is croak?"
I said "It means you are so tired you can't move"
She replied, "Mom, I think Lucy is croaked!"

Chuckle chuckle :)

Miriam turned 6 this week and is super happy that her age matches up now with an "even" number :)

She sure is a sweet little girl, I can't believe we have had her for 6 years!  We love her personality, her smiles, her silly jokes, and her incredibly authentic British accent.  She and Jacob definitely have a touch of "Smith" humor. Tonight they could not stop laughing about how silly it would be if Easter Eggs had legs!  They went on and on about how they could jump out the the basket and run round, the basket should have legs too, and it ended with Lucy jumping up and chasing the eggs.  Jacob was laughing so hard his tummy hurt.

2 Weeks!

I'm watching you, especially at 2 am!

Tired Hazel

Eliza LOVES bubble baths

.....mmmmm  I need a brother

Sister bonding

I love my fists, with or without sleeves

dirty nails, lots of love...she hasn't gotten sick yet!

so alert

So I always breath a sigh of relief at two weeks.  Things start to feel like the new normal, the other kids relax a bit, and mommy feels better.

Lucy Mae  is an angel baby.  She has been so much fun!  I was telling my sister, she fusses for an hour a day maybe, whereas my other children, as babies, were happy for about an hour a day :)

Eliza has had the most difficult time with baby.  She feels a little lost and goes back and forth between loving baby Lucy, and wanting her to go away.  She came running in from the other room saying, "Mommy!  Hold me!"  She froze when she saw Lucy nd said, "Mommy, I don't want you to hold, IT."

We also chuckled at dinner the other night, we always praise the children for big, yummy bites they take in an effort to get them to eat well.  Eliza was eating and stated very loudly, "I'm going to take a BIG HORRIBLE BITE!!"  That little girl adds some spice to our lives.

Hazel is so in love with baby.  She loves to help dress her and change her.  She never uses a voice louder than a whisper when Lucy is sleeping.  I had Lucy next to the door the other day as the kids were going in and out.  Jared saw that the cod air was drafting on her occasionlly and so he moved her.  Hazel said,  "Oh Daddy, I'm so glad you moved little Lucy so she wouldn't get cold!"
