School time!

My husband will tease me when he reads this because I begin every family video with a cheerful, "Well, here we are..." and I am going to begin this post with, "Well here we are..."

Here we are, another summer has flown by.  We loved the late nights outside relaxing together, watching for the wishing star , no book work, building forts,  and reading and painting when the heat outside became unbearable.  Our little crew is growing up.  We added a new little babe this May and her sisters have properly crowned her "Queen Emmi".  They like to spend time at her high chair trying to please her and make her giggle (this can get quite noisy and often involves the xylophone and bells)

I can't believe Jacob will be 10 this year, Miriam just turned 8, and Hazel is fast approaching 7.  Eliza-Jane plowed into being 5 in her typical style (bold and fearless).  She is embracing kindergarten with her whole heart.  I have never had a child so in love with learning.  She begs me to give her more worksheets and goes 10 pages beyond in her workbooks.

Little Lucy is in "free" school, as she calls it and colors pictures of cute puppies (she has no desire to color anything else, just the same 3 puppy pictures I print over and over)  and begs Miriam to draw her letters in her spiral book.  Emmi pretty much just screams these days putting everyones nerves on edge, and then when we think we will all go a little crazy she showers us with giggles and drooling smiles.

I can't believe how much our little band has grown!  So, here we are and off we go for another round of another year.

****oh, and a disclaimer, Lucy's short jagged bangs are the result of a strong willed personality!***

How to get rid of a headache...a 2 year olds perspective :)

I suffer from migraine headaches and my children know how to help mommy when her head hurts.

Rule 1:   Turn off all unnecessary lights
Rule 2:  Don't scream in my ear
Rule 3:  If you can do it yourself, please do
Rule 4:  (this is the most important one!)  NEVER EVER EVER shine a flashlight in mommy's eyes....NEVER!

So today, when I was laying on the carpet nursing my aching head Lucy came by and saw me thus.  I hear this little voice...

"Mommy, I know how you get rid of your headache."

So matter of fact, I must admit I was intrigued.

"Oh really, Pumpkin, please tell Mommy how to get rid of her headache."

She took a deep breath, as if she knew she had my complete attention...and she did.

"You do this," she said, as she rubbed downward on her hair, "You just rip all your hair out, there...that be all better."

Too cute, she coaxed a laugh from Mommy.  Then she said, "Now, do this," she rubbed the carpet this both arms, snow angel style.

She looked at me expectantly...

"Thank YOU!!!"  I said, "I think i'm feeling better already"

"There," she breathed, as she patted my head and then walked away.
