Happy Birthday Jacob and Hazel! (7 and 4)
What a fun busy birthday week!
Jacob had a fun "Race Day Party"
We did all kinds of racing. He invented alot of games and gave out his own little prizes and made everyone feel special. I asked him what it feels like to be 7, and he said, "I haven't really notices changes" :)
Love that BOY!
Hazel was really really excited to see if she had grown. I told her the other day she was growing up, and she said, "Yes, but I won't be any taller until my birthday!"
I asked her what it is like to be 4, she said, "Fun, and a little scary!"
She got a little mini toy doll for her present and I overheard her playing with her doll and string cheese, "The baby grabbed the string cheese tightly, but the cheese said nothing, it just fell over..."
Eliza awoke on Hazel birthday and saw the decorations everywhere and I said, "Guess what! Today is Hazel's birthday! That sign says Happy Birthday to Hazel!"
Eliza looked at me, and said in a growly voice that she does so well, "IT DOES NOT SAY HAPPY BIRHTDAY TO HAZEL, IT SAYS HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!! "
Jared was taking the kids home from a drive and was swerving back on forth on the country road. He said they heard from the back of the car, "I can't pick my nose!" It was Hazel who couldn't coordinate her operation with the swerving.

I was listening to Hazel and Eliza play outside today. Eliza found her favorite stuffed penguin that had been missing for a time. She happily hugged it and squealed, my penguin!
Hazel began to get jealous of the fun Eliza was having with her penguin. I watched her, curious to see what she would do, in the past she has thrown a fit, or even gotten mildly violent, but not today. She approached Eliza smiling, holding a matching car to hers and said, "Eliza here's your car-y, now you can drop your penguin and just forget about it. Ok, now drop it, and play cars with me!"
With that Hazel gently pushed penguin to the ground and ran off with E Liza to play cars.

I have been meaning to post this forever :) We had Nate and Jessica up here a few weekends ago and She, Katelyn and I all started playing play-dough with my kids. We kept playing after the kids were worn out and created all this delicious food. I think we should send it to play-dough. We had way too much fun!

I'm not a meanster :)

Hazel has coined a phrase at our house that I don't love, but all my kids use it now. If you are not being nice, or have upset someone you might get labeled a "meanster". Even Eliza tosses the word around.
Yesterday she followed me around and said, "Mommy, I your best friend, I am not a meanster, I'm Eliza!"
So just for the record, Eliza is NOT a meanster!

Well the adventure has begun. It has not been perfect, but it has been fun. We are trying to find the balance between almost 7 years old and just turned 2 years old, and a few spots in between. The kids love pretending I am their "real teacher", They say goodbye to me in the morning and give me a welcome home hug at lunch time. We also have grandma nearby to come a be our classroom helper. Daddy is the science teacher, and he visits via Skype through out the day.
This week we have been learning all about apples. We discovered from our taste test that the kids all like golden delicious apples best, except Hazel who favored the Pink Cripps (very tart). We also learned the average person eats 65 apples each year, and that the apple is a member of the rose family. Jacob thought we should graft an apple branch onto a rose bush and see what would happen, maybe a thorny apple? or a juicy rose?
